Team 980 started a new tradition this year of collecting toys for the local Sparks of Love toy drive! We set up a booth outside of the Burbank Toys “R” Us and got quite a few donations. We also took our 2014 robot to show to the community.

Team 980 had an Open House August 14-15 at our build site, 1209 Grand Central Ave in Glendale. We invited businesses, local leaders, educators, and many others. Team 980 and Troop 351 partnered last Sat May 30 for the annual Scout Expo at the Rose Bowl to earn the Presidential Award. Our Webelos Engineering activity pin booth and robot demo was a big hit! Thanks to our students and mentors who made this collaboration with the Boy Scouts a great success!
We participated in the first-ever Ventura Regional March 27th through 29th! We placed 32nd out of 41 teams with a match average of 57.25 points. We’re now in the off-season, and we’re preparing for awesome events such as Burbank on Parade and Scout Expo!
After an exciting Los Angeles regional, 980 came short of a trip to St. Louis. We finished in the top third (20/66 teams)! Unfortunately, we did not make elimination rounds, but not to worry, the Ventura Regional is just around the corner! Though there was some disappointment, Kaity Waldman, our team captain, was awarded Dean’s List
